As our project for ENGL 4740 Computer Application, this blog is an attempt to understand the basic of Phonetic and Phonology in terms of that Islamic knowledge. This is also a valuable effort that deserves our interest and encouragement.  The main purpose is to acknowledge the use of intonation and stresses, to disambiguate multiple spellings, and to provide a guide to unique concepts of Islam all in one place. We have chosen Phonetics and Phonology as our specialization in this project is due to the fact that this could be the foundation in learning any language. This subject does not solely concerns regarding mere letters or symbols, in fact it emphasizes in producing varieties of sounds in different language.

Throughout the semester we will continually give updates in every week. In order to notch things up, we will be putting materials such as tables, quotes, facts as to relate this course would benefit us; Muslim, in our daily life. In Islam, it is obligatory for every Muslims to seek for knowledge. Knowledge is a key for everyone to be in a right track and live in a right way. It is very obvious when the first revelation was Surah Al-Alaq, which literally means Read. However, the Surah is demonstrating the importance that Islam dedicates to knowledge.

There are few verses in Al – Qur’an and hadiths that mention about knowledge :
  • The Prophet (S.A.W.), says: “Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every muslim” (Sunan Ibn Majah)
  • The Prophet (S.A.W.), says: “Allah opens the path of Paradise to one who takes a step on the path of acquisition of knowledge”.
(Muniatul Murid, p.11)

Knowledge of the world or Hereafter, both are important for every Muslims in order to have a balance life. We must be consciously aware that we do not let our education lead us away from humility into ignorance. However, it can be fruitful only with close attention to the precise definitions and explanations of the various ideas and concepts involved.

To put it shortly, we hope that all the explanations can benefit every reader and worth to read. Inshallah.

Good comes from Allah, Bad comes from us, human.
